Art Lovers BY ADOLF DEHN
ADOLF DEHN hates sham, and is amused by it. Here he is spying on a smart vernissage,
than which, perhaps, there is nothing shammier. With Dehn, the commentator has any work to do,
for Dehn has done it all for him.
Here, the victims everything but speak, which is just as well.
You do nothave to look closely to identify the art-gallery regulars.
The goateed man who seems to recoil with an esthetic “wild surmise” is a veteran,
and so is the rapt fat lady who holds the center of the stage.
It is just like this cynical fellow Dehn to have netted these specimens at a
show of his own work, for no place and no time are sacred to his sacrilegious eye.
